We attracted our target audience through the use of having teenager actor's this meant on that it would be unique for this type of film. This then draw the attention of teenager's to watch the film which made up our age group because they could relate to them which help's a lot if the audience can have a personal connection to the actor's therefore meaning on that they can then be able to relate with situations on which happen within the opening scene.
We also attracted our target audience being based in a wood's which normally teenager's seem to go into the wood's to just escape from society with their friend's and just have fun therefore they would also be attracted by the location of what the film is being filmed in.
We also attracted our target audience by making sure we used marketing this was done through Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. Due to our research that teenager's spend most of their time on social network's if they saw the opening clip on the social network we would then get the audience hooked and want to watch the rest of the film because we leave them on a cliff hanger with the start of the film therefore meaning on that they will then want to go see it and we will then be able to advertise it more because if they liked watching the opening scene it then meant on that they would then be able to go and share it with their friend's which is known as viral advertising and that they will be able to get more people to see the video therefore making attract more people to go and watch the film.
Another way we attracted our target audience was to use billboard's over popular cities / town's to be able to then attract teenager's because majority of the time they are having to travel from place to place therefore they might of spotted one. Also we advertised in shop's by the use of poster's therefore meaning on that it would also attract teenager's through the use of posters.

Who would be the audience for your media product?
Who would be the audience for your media product?
The audience for our media product is primarily aimed at teenagers / young adults this is mainly in the age group from around 16-25 however we also think that it is important to have a secondary target audience as well which we have a bigger age group which is more then likely around 26-38. We have chosen these ages because after our research we have found the most sale's for product's which were similar to ours which will be presented on the prezi link below. One of the film's which has a similar aspect to ours is called "Cabin In The Woods" which is also based inside of a forest / wood setting with an abandoned cabin where 5 teenager's / young adult's went to for a break.
We have chosen to go for the age group of 16-25 as our primarily audience as for first their age is one of the most popular to be able to go and see horror movie's and the second most important reason on why we have chosen this as our primarily audience is because we have teenager's who are actor's in our film it mean's on that the primarily audience might have a personal connection towards the actor's therefore making them want to watch it and making them interested in the film. The main reason however I think that we will attract 16-25 year olds is because of the actor's in the film also having the same age group which isn't normally used within horror and will make our film quite unique and to be different to watch.
We have also chosen the secondary audience as the age group of 26-38 because this is the other main age group to watch other horror film's which may not be similar to ours. However with our film also having them in our target audience it mean's that it may appeal to them making sale's within their age group.
When we looked at a similar film which has been released which is called "Psycho" we noticed on that the statistic's about the people who like Psycho is 40-59 year olds however we disagree with this as our target age as we know that our primarily audience will be 16-25 year olds because on how they can relate with the actor's in our film. Therefore we also compared it with another film which is also a similar product to ours called "Silence of the Lamb's" however with that we also got the same age group of 40-59 year olds therefore we think that the profiler is wrong or that they don't have enough people from each age group which make's these result's incorrect!
The gender for our age group would mainly be aimed at a male audience because we done some research and noticed that male's seem to watch more Horror genre film's and then female's watch more ROMCOM instead. The lifestyle of the person would be someone who goes to further education and that they would also have a part time job and when they don't go to work or the further education they spend their time relaxing watching horror film's and browsing the internet. The hobbies which the person would have would be a person who like's watching horror's and enjoys watching movie's in general and then his other hobbies would be , video games, watching TV and also play's football in his spare time.

Research and Planning - 11
Planning and research is partially incomplete, there is a
lack of research into target audience, demographics, audience reception theory
etc. However there is proficient research into similar products and some
reasonable proficient planning, including scripts (although this doesn't follow
conventions), schedules, shot lists, and an excellent storyboard. Overall this
blog does show Joe's journey, but the research into representation/target
audience etc lets it down.
Main Task – 57
The tone is set stylishly in this simple but sophisticated
film opening. There is an excellent variety of camera movements, tilts and
pans, as well as some creative and excellent framing, notably the dead body arm
in the foreground while the antagonist approaches. The credits follow
conventions and keep pace with the slow but sophisticated pace. There is a
clear narrative and the editing is excellent with a clear build up of sequences
and match on actions. This is clearly fulfilling the task set and meaning is
conveyed through editing, the sophisticated soundscape and editing.
Evaluation Task 1)
The first shot we have used is a tilt downwards we have done this to show the surrounding to the location on where we are filming this is done because it would give the audience an idea of where we are filming and what to expect from a typical film. In this shot we have also included the production company name we have done this to show on who the film company is and by this the audience may have recognised the film company name and think on what is expected to come! We decided to go for a simple font that was easy to read, as we didn't want it to serve as too much distraction from the sequence. This shot is a very long shot. We decided early in pre-production that we wanted to have slow cutting at the beginning and slowly build up to fast cutting at the end. This will create a build up tension with the audience which will keep them watching the film.
The second shot is an stabling shot of the location with the killer sat in the centre of the shot. It is an extreme long shot as this shows how isolated he is within the scene however also giving the audience more of a location on where they are in the starting opening. We used titles again in this scene with the same font which is clear this show's consistency and in the bottom right it isn't in the focus of the shot so it is a good location on where we have chosen to put the text. Also we have started to add a tint which is on majority of our clips. This then makes a convention of horror and makes the film have a more eerie look to the shot's which also affect's on how the audience feel's.
This next shot is now a tracking shot that the killer from him sitting on the log, to walking towards the body. We decided that this would be the best shot to have as it is still early in the sequence and we highlighted earlier that we wanted infrequent cut's at the begging. We also thought this would then help the scene flow which was a good result as it did. We then decided on that once we knew the direction which he was going to be walking in that we would stop tacking as it emphasised the scale of the forest and looks to the audience as if he is isolated completley.
The next shot is also a tracking shot. This time however we follow the killer in a medium close up. This has been done to give the audience an idea on how he look's from a side on view and to really make the audience think can this guy be a killer? We also decided it would be better to be closer to the killer now because it removes that sense earlier on that he is alone, as this shot doesn't show isolation. Also with this shot we have a vignette in all of our shots excluding the flashbacks as we felt that this added a spooky effect and also give's the edge's on the shot a dark feel which could make the audience tense.
The next show is a low angles shot that shows the bloody hand of the victim, with the killer walking towards it in the background. The focus changes from the killer in the background at first , to the hand in the foreground and this was to show a change in the focus of the sequence from the killer to the body. We decided to use a low angle shot as this shows that all control is with the killer and there is no hope for the victim. The fact that the killer is out of focus the nearer he is to the hand connotes that the events that caused this are unclear to him and this also makes the audience to then be able to watch more of the clip to find out what has actually happened.
However this shot is a quite a high angle shot which gives us the perspective on what we then see from the killer. This again show's that all control is with the killer , as this is a point of view shot. This is also the shot that reveals the body to the audience which makes the audience wonder what happened and to get a description of the dead character. We made this a long shot to show the whole body in the shot and to also give the audience the feel of where this is located. Which is basically the middle of no where.
This next show is an over shoulder shot this is to give the audience a better view of the murder to the killer. This also helps bring some perspective to the audience as to where the killer is in relation to the body. It also hides the emotion of the killer and , as a result helps the audience realise that he really is isolated.
The next shot is of a zoom in of a blood- stained hand , this build's up nicely to the flashback and the zoom in could represent the zoom in to reality. We decided to put the camera at an angle so that the body is visible however is out of focus. This helps the audience anticipate that the killer is thinking about him. This shot is short in length as we wanted to use fast paced editing to represent a hint of panic. Also, the fact that the body is behind the hand out of focus makes it clear to the audience that he is guilty of the crime however makes the audience think on who's the blood could be?
The next shot is an extreme close up of the killer's eyes and represents that it was indeed a flashback and was formed from the memories of the killer. The close up also emphasizes his emotions at this current moment of the scene.

There are some fantastic elements to this film, the pace is excellent, giving a feeling of a slow start with a build up towards the end of the opening. There is a variety of camera shots, angles and movement and your narrative is starting to become clearer.

There are some fantastic elements to this film, the pace is excellent, giving a feeling of a slow start with a build up towards the end of the opening. There is a variety of camera shots, angles and movement and your narrative is starting to become clearer.
In order to help with progress think about the following:
- Sort out the sound glitches and differences in volume.
- Think about adding some more ambient sound to the opening
- the music makes it feel too much like a trailer - think about losing this entirely and replacing with interesting sound effects
- build up your flashback scene, using an aftereffects zoom into the eye. This will help the narrative flow better. Ensure that this part has a clear colour differentiation so it is clear this is a flashback.
First Cut
With our first cut what we have done is that we have made it so that we have then been able to add effect's to our film so that we can get an idea of the opening scene of the scenario. By when we have done this we have also made sure that we have conventions of horror in the film for example we have sound which add's a dramatic effect which may make the audience tense.
First cut review:
The first thing we had to do with our film is to get all of the clip's sorted we had over 50 clip's of footage of what we had recorded and we needed to reorder them to what was a usable clip and what wasn't a usable clip. Doing this we found out that alot / majority of of clips wasn't usable however this we useful doing it this method as we then could go out and refilm clips on which we knew we needed,
Effects:
While editing our film we tried to add a numerous of effect's to then make it more fitting in with the convention of horror by doing this we had know what effect's were good to use and for what scene and we have added a tint to the whole of our film therefore we now meet the convention's of horror in our film. We had done this by adding a tint to our film and then added it to every clip of what we have used so far so we have a similar color effect on every clip so we don't have clip's looking like they was filmed at a different time because of the light in the scene.
Sound:
In our film we have added sound to then remove the audio on which we did have which was poor quality and didn't make any sense in the scene. We have also done in the first cut is that we have added sound affect's of a bird which is normally used to symbolism when something has gone wrong in horror. We have also tried to make our film have an eerie sound affect to our film to make the audience to have a chill to their bones which then add's up tension with the audience when the first cut start's to get to a certain scene.
